Misconception #10 Hepatitis B vaccine causes chronic health problems, including multiple sclerosis.Again, media reports of anecdotal allegations have given rise to this myth. While the precise cause of multiple sclerosis (MS), a neurologic disease is not known, it is presumed to be an autoimmune in origin. When a French study examined evidence from over 60 million doses of Hepatitis b vaccine, it was found that the incidence of neurologic disease, including MS was actually lower in vaccinated vs. unvaccinated persons.

Cindy Province is a native of Southeastern Missouri. She graduated from Saint Louis University in 1981 with degrees in Nursing (BSN) and Psychology (BA). She completed her MSN at Saint Louis University in 1985 and is currently working toward the MA in Christian Bioethics at Trinity Evangelical School in Deerfield, Illinois. Her background is in neurosurgical critical care.
